Effective social media content from successful hair salons typically showcase transformations with high-quality before-and-after photos. They also post behind-the-scenes content, client testimonials, and educational styling tutorials across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Consistent posting during peak engagement times builds brand awareness and drives bookings. While DIY approaches require significant time investment, outsourced solutions like Local Social Link™ offer extensive content creation and publishing for just a few bucks a day. The following strategies can transform your hair salon’s online presence.
The Downside to Content Creation at Hair Salons
While salon professionals excel at creating beautiful hairstyles, they often struggle with the technical challenges of photo editing that follows. Capturing the true brilliance of their work requires fixing several common issues.
Lighting adjustments become necessary when salon conditions create unflattering shadows, while white balance tweaks neutralize those yellow tints from fluorescent lighting that distort hair color.
Many stylists find themselves battling grainy textures in low-light photos and spending hours balancing skin tones across diverse client complexions. This process isn’t just time-consuming—it’s essential for client approval before sharing on social platforms.
The struggle to maintain consistency between smartphone captures and professional-quality portfolio images adds another layer of complexity. Many socially active salons now dedicate 5-10% of appointment time specifically for photography, reducing the burden of extensive post-processing while ensuring authentic representation of their work.
Benefits of Social Media for Hair Salons

Four compelling benefits make social media an essential tool for today’s hair salons.
1 – The visual nature of hair styling makes social media platforms perfect for visual storytelling, allowing stylists to highlight their unique expertise.
2 – Social media also opens powerful client engagement opportunities. Salons can respond to comments, host Q&A sessions, and create polls that make customers feel valued and connected. When attendees at these sessions share a post or event on their feed, it gets shared with all their family and friends…without having to pay Facebook.
3 – This two-way communication builds loyalty that traditional advertising simply can’t match. It also gives the salon valuable data on customer likes, dislikes, motivations, and emotions. This can be used to build better marketing campaigns on every channel.
4 – Beyond engagement, social platforms drive revenue through targeted promotions, seamless booking integrations, and client testimonials that convert browsers into customers.
For modern salons, social media isn’t just optional—it’s where your next clients are waiting.
Tips to Create Compelling Social Content for Hair Salons
Creating compelling social media content for your hair salon doesn’t require a marketing degree, but it does demand strategic thinking about what your audience wants to see.
Visual storytelling remains king in this industry, with before-and-after transformation photos consistently outperforming other content types.
Focus on these high-impact strategies to boost client engagement:
- Showcase your transformations through photos and videos
- Feature your team in behind-the-scenes content
- Repost client photos (with permission) to build trust
- Share video testimonials from satisfied customers
- Create educational content like styling tutorials
Remember to highlight your salon’s unique atmosphere through workspace photos and Instagrammable corners.
When team members share their expertise through live Q&A sessions or product demonstrations, they establish credibility and foster meaningful connections with followers.
Scheduling Posts for Engagement
Scheduling your hair salon’s social media content strategically can transform your online presence from sporadic to spectacular. Consistent posting frequency is the cornerstone of effective engagement strategies, keeping your salon top-of-mind without overwhelming followers’ feeds.
Tools like Recurpost streamline cross-platform scheduling, posting, and response. For salons with multiple stylists, team collaboration features allow everyone to contribute while maintaining a unified voice.
The most successful salon accounts leverage analytics to identify peak engagement windows. For example, try posting before-and-after transformations during lunch breaks, share styling tutorials in evening hours. Schedule promotional content when booking patterns indicate clients are planning appointments.
Local Social Link™ – Outsourced Content and Posting for Hair Salons

Examples of social media content for hair salons
While many salon owners excel at creating stunning hairstyles, they often struggle to maintain an effective social media presence that matches their artistic talents. After all, it’s touch to run a salon, manage employees, and deal with demanding clients.
And while it’s well worth it, it can also get costly. In our experience, managing a social media presence requires about 20-30 hours per month for the owner, manager, or a staff member. At an average total labor cost of around $50/hour, this adds up. Costs can run to $1,000, $1500 or more. And while the ROI is usually there, it’s often hard for busy salons to spare an employee (or the owner) for that much time every month.
The Local Social Link™ service offers a complete content strategy solution for busy salon owners at only $97 monthly.
This done-for-you service handles daily posting across multiple platforms. It delivers professionally designed visuals that highlight salon services, trends, tips, information, and promotions.
Getting started is easy.
2 – Send us your logo and website URL (we tell you how to do that).
3 – Let our team handle the rest!
We brand all images with your logo and website URL. We create captions with relevant hashtags for each post. We then schedule and post at the best times on your primary social media channels.
While this service does not include before and after photos, (only you can do that), it instantly gives you a consistent, engaging social media presence that customers expect from a professional salon.
With Local Social Link™, salons can build their reputation, increase visibility, and drive bookings without sacrificing time behind the chair.

FAQs Local Social Link
Once I sign up for Local Social Link™, how long before posts start appearing on my social pages?
It’s pretty fast. Once we get your logo and URL, we’re ready to start posting within 10-14 business days. Posting starts as soon as we get your final approval.
How do I order?
Simply click any Order button on this page. If you get stuck, reach out to us on the Contact Us page and we’ll get you started.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, you can cancel any time after your first 3 paid months. Also, if you change your mind in the first 48 hours after placing your order, you can cancel and get a refund. After 48 hours, we will have already begun work on your project, in which case you can cancel after 3 months.
How does billing work?
Once your payments start, you’re billed once a month on the anniversary date of your first payment. All payments are pre-payments for the upcoming month.
Can I get a refund?
You can cancel your order within 48 hours. Just reply to your welcome email with your request. After 48 hours, no refund is available because we will already have begun work on your Local Social Link project. You can however, cancel any time after three months.
Is posting more than once a day too much?
No, it’s not. According to Hubspot and MANY other studies, posting on Facebook at least once a day is necessary. Keep in mind, not everyone is going to see every post. So by posting twice a day, you insure your fans hear from you at least once a day. On other channels such as Google Business Profile and LinkedIn, one post a day is a good frequency.
Equally important as frequency, and perhaps a bit more so, is consistency and quality. Sporadic posting doesn’t do much for your page or your business. Our professional, engaging graphics ensure you are supplying high quality content on a consistent basis.
Is a contract required?
No. You can cancel Local Social Link™ at any time after the first 3 months. We require a 3-month minimum due to the significant work we do on our end to get your campaign created and running on your social media channels.
Also, there will never be any price increase for the service once you begin working with us!
Won’t all my competitors be using these same images?
No, it’s highly unlikely. Here’s why.
For any given population of businesses, only a small percentage will commit to a product. For instance, when selling any kind of product or service, a 1% conversion rate from a cold list is considered great. In other words, if there are 100 similar businesses in your area and we hit every one of them up to the best of our ability, the odds are that we’d only get 1 out of the 100 to become a client.
Speaking from many years of sales experience with thousands of clients, as well as from a statistical viewpoint, it’s practically impossible to saturate any given geographic area.
Also, it doesn’t matter if your competitors use the same images. The fact is, it’s highly unlikely that your clients will be following more than one or two businesses in your niche, especially if they are already your customer. They’ll be following YOU and not your competitors.
However, if you want to put your mind at ease, just ask me on our Contact form if anyone is using LSL in your target area and I’ll let you know. Odds are that you are the first.
Is it safe to share my social media accounts?
Yes, it is safe. We follow all current Facebook and social media channel rules to the letter. They have strict security protocols. And remember, Facebook and social media company pages were designed specifically for teams to work together. You, as the administrator, always control your account and all matters relating to it. We are simply part of your editorial support team.
Can I re-share, re-use or delete the posts once you post them?
Yes. Use and re-use as much as you like. You can also delete any post at any time. And if you don’t want something to re-post, simply ask us to remove it from the list.
Can I still do my own posts in addition to yours?
Yes. You can post anything, any time. The more you engage with your local clients, the better the results.
Can I preview the campaign images before you begin posting?
Yes. You get a chance to preview the images before we begin automatic posting. We’ll remove any images you don’t want to include.
Can you edit the images themselves, the animations (if applicable), or the text on the image?
While it is possible to edit the images themselves, this is not included as part of the basic Local Social Link™ service. If you want further graphic customization, contact us for an estimate based on your needs.
